Remember the days when texting was reserved only for friends and family? Well those days are long-gone and now we see more businesses using texting on a daily basis (recruiters included!) Unfortunately this surge in SMS texting for business use has also created more spam and unsolicited messages being sent across the carrier networks.

In order to reduce spam and unwanted communication, the mobile carriers have introduced a new SMS messaging standard known as 10dlc which requires all companies & brands in the US who use text messaging to communicate with the public (in your case with candidates) be registered as a 'trusted sender' in a new centralized system called The Campaign Registry.

What is 10DLC?

10DLC (10 digit long code) is a formal program designed by US Carriers that secures and improves business-to-consumer text messaging, also known as A2P (Application-to-Person). 10DLC is a set of standards and registration processes for 10DLC numbers to better understand who is using 10DLC for A2P and what they’re sending across the network. Carriers’ A2P 10DLC offerings provide better delivery quality and lower filtering risk than long code SMS of the past, using the same phone numbers. To do this, companies must register their brands with The Campaign Registry, register their use-cases (campaigns), and then associate phone numbers with those campaigns to essentially be 'preapproved' for safe delivery across carrier networks.

Why does it matter to the recruitment industry?

Texting for recruitment purposes is considered 'business texting' and therefore falls under the 10DLC jurisdiction. In summary, recruiting teams who register their texting numbers with 10DLC will experience greater deliverability rates than those that do not.

What happens if I don't register my team for 10DLC?

If a business decides not to register their brand and continues using their 10DLC phone number, then messages will not be delivered. Carriers have stopped supporting SMS traffic from 10DLC numbers that are unregistered, meaning messages to candidates on that carrier will fail.

How much does it cost to register?

There is a 1-time registration fee of $44 plus a yearly campaign registration fee of $24 for smaller teams, or $120 for larger teams. We will process the charges on the payment method that you have registered with us.

Note: Rectxt does this as a free service to our customers and we do not add any margin to these fees nor do we profit in anyway from the 10DLC registration process.
